International Mission Trip
Greetings to you in the name of Him Who said, “Go and make disciples”. I am writing to you on the heels of a recent scouting trip to Nanegalito, Ecuador. This letter is to ask you to pray about being a part of MMM’s international team of 2005. God is doing a great work in this country among the indigenous people and I am so excited that He is allowing us to take part in His work in this country.
As you well know, Ecuador is at the center of the earth. It is a beautiful mountainous country. We will be working more than a mile above sea level in several villages around Nanegalito which is northwest of Quito, our mission is twofold. First, our mission is to assist pastors by reaching their communities through practical ministry of medical clinics. Secondly, our mission is to perform the preliminary work for the establishing of a Bible training institute for pastors, lay leaders, and church planters.
There is a great need for both of these missions. The people are very poor and are in need of basic medical care. In one village the pastor said it has been 11 years since a medical team was there and that often the men of the church carry people on horse back to the nearest catholic clinic. While the clinic is only 60 miles away, the trip takes several hours one way, due to the roads.
We are in need of primary care physicians, podiatrists, pediatrics, ob-gyns, and dentists, nurses, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, dental hygienists, and triage nurses. We calculate the need for at least 35 people to make a strong team. In addition to the clinics, we will need men and women to assist with the various needs of a field clinic and accompanying ministries such as children, evangelism, VBS, and interpretation.
This is a week long trip with five days of clinics sandwiched between two days of travel. Our accommodations will be at The Meeting Place compound just outside Nanegalito. These are modern facilities which will afford us phone and internet access, as well as full amenity bathrooms. This compound was built in the last few years by Thomas and Joan Beak. They are in their late eighties and are still going strong for the Lord. We will have a team cook who will prepare all of our meals in the dining hall of The Meeting Place. Each evening we will have a time of fellowship and discipleship to conclude the day.
Thank you for praying about this opportunity and please call us or attend our information meeting if you need more facts to make your decision. Please review the enclosed brochure and visit our website for more pictures of Ecuador. I look forward to serving the Lord with you in Ecuador.
GOING, because Jesus said, SOW!
